Dragon Movie Review
Now, the second movie I saw was Dragon, a Tamil film that was already a big hit in theaters. It was made on a budget of ₹37 crores and earned over ₹150 crores worldwide. Now, it’s on Netflix, dubbed in Hindi, and trust me when I say—this movie is a masterpiece.
I’ll be honest: I had no idea what the hype was all about when I first heard about it, but after watching it, I understood why everyone was praising it. The movie is filled with life lessons wrapped in humor, drama, and unexpected twists.
The protagonist, D. Rangnathan, is a man obsessed with quick success. He uses shortcuts to get ahead in life, and we see how these shortcuts eventually lead him into a deep spiral. There’s a powerful message about how shortcuts can never truly take you where you want to go in life. The movie dives deep into the consequences of lies, deceit, and personal growth, which makes it both funny and heart-wrenching at the same time.
The scene that really hit me hard was one of self-realization. D. Rangnathan uses lies to climb the ladder of success, but in the end, he realizes that these lies have caught up with him. This moment is powerful enough to make you shed a tear. It was definitely one of the most emotional scenes in the movie.
The comedy and seriousness are perfectly balanced, and I have to say, this movie has one of the best screenplays I’ve seen in a long time. There’s a scene in the first half where the protagonist explains something to his boss in such an excited, over-the-top manner that I literally got up from my chair and started clapping. That’s the power of communication in cinema—when the actor’s performance connects with the audience so well that you can’t help but react.
You’ll probably think, “Why is the first half so focused on shortcuts?” But just wait for the second half—you won’t be able to move from your seat. The film is around 2 hours long, but not once did I feel like I wanted to leave or check my phone. Every scene kept me hooked.
As for the lead actor, I don’t know why, but there were moments when I could see hints of Dhanush in his performance. But regardless of that, he was phenomenal. He completely nailed the role.
The music in the film was decent—nothing mind-blowing, but it works with the overall theme. The storyline is what steals the show, and this one is definitely a must-watch for anyone looking for a movie with depth and substance.
Overall, this one gets 4.5 out of 5 stars from me. It’s that good!
